Aug. 9, 2023 - Russian steelmaker NLMK Group has announced that its subsidiary NLMK Lipetsk is implementing a pilot project to convert used refractories into raw materials for steelmaking, which will make it possible to replace some of the raw materials purchased from outside the group. Previously, used refractories at NLMK were sold to third parties.

The pilot project is a part of the group's recycling program which will reduce recycling costs by 50 percent by 2025 and increase recycling rates to 99.5 percent.
